I know it's pointless to ask... because nobody actually knows (gotta love immigration)... but I've heard that if you finish your contract and go for an E2 visa within THREE MONTHS of leaving, you don't need a new criminal background check?? Can anyone confirm??

Also, I know they're only good for six months (when they switch to the nationwide-only rule)... is that six months from the time you applied or the time you were granted one?

The six month rule hasn't changed. It was like that before they made the nation-wide check changes for Jan. 1, 2011 and is still in effect today. It's six months from the date of issue on the check.

If you are out of Korea for fewer than 3 months, the check is good (after nation-wide checks go into effect in Jan).

Wait... WHAT check is good? The check from your previous E-2? Even if it was almost two years ago?? (two visa transfers)
