Hipass fails about 10% of the time for me. It fails in this scenario:
Enter highway A (Hipass beeps)
transfer at JCT to highway B
Highway B first tollbooth it fails (it beeps but highway sirens and lights sound)
Highway B exit tollbooth it works.
I get a bill in the mail for the A to B JCT.
I have been going slowly, 30K, through the gantry. Can't figure out the problem.
Anyone have any ideas? Or does this hipass system just have problems? |

Have you called the Hi-pass service centre? It might be a problem with your card.
I don't know if it uses the same system as the States but this happened occasionally back home as well. They should have your license plate on file (don't know about Korea) and just charge you the correct amount.
Are you being charged extra? a penalty? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. I would still call the service centre and see if it is just your card and maybe have it replaced. If you are being charged, I would go to the centre and explain what happens. They have cameras there that record every violation so they should have everything on record and can validate your claims.
Good luck! It was a pain back home to take time out of the day but it needed to be done. |

Maybe the card got too hot in the window.
They say not to leave the unit on a hot window incase it damages the card.
I think you get somewhere up to 9 times of grace from Hipass per year, before they impose extra penalties.
You should drop into a centre at your nearest tollgate so they can check your card for problems. |

Hi-pass. It makes sense now.
i was thinking of a different compound noun, and wondered how that would fail. |

Dave Chappelle could pull that off..."that's one hip ass failure, damn." |
