I got a new laptop, now none of the Korean websites are working in IE, my schools, the subway, maps, nothing. There are no pop ups saying that I have to download anything.

What do I need to download so that it will work?
Thanks

OK, thanks, I'll have to do that when my husband can help. I downloaded IE9 and that works for the sites I need to get to. I still can't get my school's webpage in Korean, but can get it in English.

IE6 is unnecessary. I haven't run into a website that hasn't worked on IE8.

anyone know why certain Korean sites will work while others won't? The homepage of my school won't work, but other pages on the same site do.

Perhaps you could be clearer about what "not working" means? Download and install flash, java...? I am running Windows 7, using IE8 without issue (and without java).

It's blank.

For example, on the Seoul Map website, the govt one, I can see the sidebar on the left, but then I click on something and that's blank and there's no map in the middle

Or my school's website, I can see the top: which is just english, Chinese, Korean. that's it, the names of the languages and the rest is blank.

it's like being offline, except there's no box that says I'm offline. And I'm not offline, I'm online.

When you surf to those sites do you see any yellow bar at the top of your browser asking you to install something?

Nope, that's the problem. So I installed IE9 and there's a bar at the bottom that asks you to install stuff. But my school's homepage still won't work. I'm going to have to beg the tech guy at school to help out.
