Hi all,
I recently finished my contract in Korea on August 25th. I left Korea to come to Thailand to do some teacher training. I left Korea on a round-trip ticket. My return ticket is set for two weeks from now. Since my E-2 visa/ARC card are expired, can I enter Korea on a tourist visa? I'm American, so I'm hoping that I can just enter on a tourist visa so I can do some sightseeing and (more importantly) pick up the rest of my stuff that is at a friend's house.
Anyone out there that has done this before?
Much appreciated! |

Yup, should be no problem. I've done it before. |

No problem. If your ARC was turned in and/or expired then you have no status in Korea and your entry will be on a B1 (visa waiver stamp) - good for 90 days.
Do be aware that, since you have no status in Korea, the airline may insist that you have on-ward passage before they let you board the aircraft for your return flight.

First time is no problem.
if you then return on a second tourist visa in a row immediately after the first, then expect a lot of questions. They may even deny you.
The only fuss you will get about an onward ticket comes not from Korean immigration but from the airline itself. |
