|
|
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on computer speakers. I bought some Korean no-names a year ago for about 50,000won and they have crapped out on me. I live in small town Korea and my shopping options are pretty limited. I have ventured to some of the big box stores (Emart, Walmart, Carrefour) and have seen some Altec Lansing and Creative Labs sets, along with names I don't know like Camac and Britz.
Mostly they'd be for listening to music or the radio on the internet, and periodically for watching a movie or t.v. show via my computer. I'm not convinced that I need a home theatre type setup (unless someone here convinces me otherwise ).
I'm pretty ignorant about what to look for when shopping for speakers, so any advice would be appreciated. I'm pretty sure I don't need a high-end speaker system that costs a fortune, but I don't want low-end pieces of crap either. Hope that makes sense .
Thanks in advance... |

If you're in Seoul, give Yongsan or Technomart a try. You should be able to get excellent sounding speakers with subwoofer - don't pay any attention to the brand - for 40,000w or less. Just make sure you're able to test them in a quiet place. |

I love my Creative Labs 2.1 speakers. I use them for music, and I hook 'em up to my VCR when I'm watching TV or videos. Excellent sound for a resonable price, right around that 50,000 you were targeting. |

I highly recommend the Jazz model 270 speaker system (which is a 2.1). Great sound, and you can get it for about 40,000 won or so. |

I got the creative 2.1 speakers and they sounnd beautiful. I'd go with creative over any other brands, the price is reasonable and you can get 4.1 too if you got a good soundcard.
Best soundcard for a normal user is also the creative cards. I have the Audigy 2 and platinum and it is one of the best soundcards around. |

I've currently got the Creative 5.1 setup (and am very happy), but my last set of speakers (on my old computer) was a pair of Britz speakers with a subwoofer. No complaints about them, and if I recall, they were around 50,000. I don't think you can go wrong with either Creative or Britz.
Good luck,
