So I have my degree notarized and authenticated, my fbi cbc with the stamp and currently getting authenticated as well, several sealed transcripts and a couple letters of recommendation. My passport is current. So what now. I've heard different things on the matter. Do I take all these documents and scan them all and upload them to EPIK, should I not open them, do I send it by airmail to a Korean school or my Korean consulate? I just don't want to mess up by opening something I wasn't or sending something I shouldn't and have to wait two months to get a reissued doc. I searched and all I could find were posts about how to get these documents notarized and apostille which helped but now I'm stuck and don't want to go back to square one so any help would be great. Sorry for the neophyte question.

Do you have a job set up? You cant send your docs off unless you have a job and a signed contract in hand.

If you don't have a job, you need to contact a few recruiters and look for one. The fact that you have everything you need will help you a lot!

Make scans of your degree, CBC and passport information page.

Attach those, along with your resume, to your job applications (if you are e-mailing recruiters).

If you are applying for a public school position, look at the application procedure on their respective websites.

http://cge.ken.go.kr/eng/ (GEPIK)
http://epik.go.kr/EPIK/html/application/apply_online.jsp (EPIK)
http://www.niied.go.kr/ (umbrella for EPIK, SMOE and TaLK)

If you have an old copy of your university transcripts, scan them as well. They are good for showing schools. Some even ask (although it's not common). If you don't have one, you should get an extra one so that you can open it up and check that everything is in order.

Don't send your documents off until you are sure that a school really is going to hire you. Some recruiters pull a scam of getting teachers to send docs and then unfortunately the school finds someone else, BUT the recruiter has another really good job for you - bait and switch!

You also want to make sure that you have a complete set of docs with you when you come to Korea. That's in case you have to leave your first job and find a new one (and hence get a new visa). It's a big pain in the butt to have to collect those documents while you're over here. Better to bring a spare set with you. And who knows, maybe you'll head somewhere else after Korea and those docs will come in handy for the next job.

Do you get any of your visa documents back? Because I only have one criminal record check certificate and it will cost me 23 to get another one.

No, you do NOT get your documents back from immigration.

I'd spend the 23 for peace of mind.
