I usually get 2 hours for video and just over for web browsing on my laptop battery.
Was playing a texas hold em game on the laptop on a long taxi ride yesterday and only got an hour out of the fully charged battery!!
Do games use a lot more power than browsing / watching movies? |

It depends...
Launch task manager and you can see how much resources that particular game is using when it's running. Launch it when viewing a movie to compare. The more intensive the application the quicker the drain on the battery.
I can't speak for laptops as I don't normally game on either of mine but my Galaxy phone sure runs out of juice quick when I fire up games, quicker than when watching video files on it. |

Games are the one application that will push your CPU, GPU and RAM to their limits. And those are the three things that suck up the most juice. Along with the screen, which is obviously on while gaming.
So, yeah. Gaming uses tons of power.
But a poker game....?......that shouldn't use too much.....unless it has fancy graphics. |
