|

Anyone know if the Vancouver Police check is considered a "federal" check in Korea? I am certain that it really is a federal check (ie. they check the criminal database of the whole country, exactly the same process as RCMP according to them...)
But would Korea accept it? I didn't see anything that says it is federal on it. Also, if I got my criminal check done in 2009 before coming to Korea, would I need to do it again even if I have not entered Canada this whole year and could not possibly have committed a crime there?
I'm curious, because I got a letter from SMOE today saying that Americans and Canadians are the ones who need to get this "federal" background check. |

Just get a RCMP check. I went to big RCMP in North Vancouver and got my Criminal Record Check done in an hour or two! Then went straight to the Korean embassy to get it verified. Easy Peasy!
NOW if you are in Korea (WHich reading again looks like)! You are a little messed. No the Vancouver will not be considered National. I think they want RCMP only. Just get your RCMP check done now. Maybe you can beg immi to wait a little.! |

OK. That is pretty annoying, since I'm supposed to get the police check from the last city of residence (Vancouver). I suppose I could get a Kelowna RCMP check done, as that's my parent's address on my driver's license. I suppose I can lie and tell them that was my former residence.
It's funny, because from what I know, the RCMP and Vancouver Police check the exact same database. The RCMP check "appears" national, so I guess we Canadians better go with "appearances" rather than content and actual information... since the RCMP check and Vancouver Police check are exactly the same.
But anyhow, thanks for the reply. Looks like I gotta get that RCMP check if I want to stay in Korea, which I'm unsure if I do... |
