Tried searching but it seems pretty dead at the moment?

I'm using a UK issued Nationwide debit card, good for 300 in the UK and at least 2500RMB in China (250) but in Korea all I can get is 100,000KRW 3 times in a row then it locks me out for the day?

Why is the withdrawal limit so pokey? I've tried numerous ATMs at different times in different places, but seemingly they all have the 100,000 limit even if they say they can do more initially?

Can't be the only one facing this problem! Ideas Smile

I can take out 1,000,000 at a time (once per day), no special account. And that's from KB, a notoriously fussy bank.

with an international card? thats the problem here, I'm sure my KEB card in a KEB bank would bring all the money I've got!

Oops, sorry, missed that. It's not with an international card.

I've withdrawn 5 million in a day before. I went to the bank, wanted to get some money to take home with me, had to get the won first to exchange. The bank guard took me to the ATM, took out 1 million 5 times, and that was at a NongHyup, a farmers bank. Just ask the tellers about it at the bank, they can tell you what to do.

Go back to the bank and ask them to boost your limit.

When you first open an account the teller usually asks what you want the maximum daily limit set at. I usually set mine in the 2 million to 3 million range. Just enough if you ever want that one time big item purchase.

really helpful posts all round, good to hear the experiences and all,
But I don't need to boost my limit, in China+UK I can withdraw 300 that is 550,000KRW In Korea I can only get 100,000 3 times before my card is blocked for the day.

Was hoping to hear from more International card in Korea scenarios, there's enough of us here! but I'll make some calls Smile

I have the same card as you....and had similar problems, especially withdrawing after Korean banking hours......

Also, depends on the bank I have noticed. Very little problem withdrawing 600k (the UK limit) at KEB (Global ATM's) ..........but all sorts of trouble at the other banks like Hana/Nonhyup/KB.
