Hi!
I'm an american citizen and half-korean and was looking to teach English in Korea for a year or longer. In any case, I was looking at all the required documentation, but had a question about visas. Since my mother is Korean and is now a US citizen, I know I'm eligible for a F-4 visa, which is better than the regular working visa. Here are the questions that I have:
1. How can contact the Family Census Register (Hojuk Deungbohn) to get a copy of my mother's documentation? Does she have to do it? Can she go it from here in the US? What is the best way to obtain this?
2. Should I apply for the F-4 visa as soon as possible BEFORE applying for jobs listed here or should I first wait to see what the places have to say about it?
3. Where can I get the application for the F-4 visa itself? Can I do everything from here in NY?
Thanks for any help, it is much appreciated! |

check with the korean consulate as the rules have recently changed and some men who were previously eligible for the F visas now have to do military service before they can get one.
the number of months of military service is going up again and the birth rate here is low so i assume there is a need for more people to do time in the ROK army. |
