Does anyone know if the chippy in Busan is still open (and is it any good?)

I've looked online but everything mentioning it seems to be a few years old now.

Many thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure the Fish and Chips shop in Jangsan closed.

You might try Gecko's in Palez de CZ or O'brien's in Gaya.

Doesn't the guy in PNU near the Crossroads/Soul Trane intersection do fish and chips (along with burritos and lasagne)?

O'Brien's in Gaya is hit and miss. Gecko's is really good though.

Starface on Dalmaji Hill in Haeundae makes fish and chips, as well as Indian and Mexican dishes. One of the owners is British and it's renovated after a fire a year or two ago. You can either walk up the hill or take a cab from the Jangsan subway station (last station going east on the green line) for about 3,000 Won. Tell the cabdriver Dalmiji, Choo Ree Moon Hogwan (The Mystery Library) or the 7-11; the bar is right next door.

Thanks for the info - I'll check them out.

I'll be honest, as a brit, I was looking forward to trying real fish and chips as made by a brit (I'm sorry, but the stuff I've been told is 'just as good' or 'pretty good' usually just doesn't match up.)

If there's a british owner - that would bode well...

I doubt really chippy chips are available here Crying or Very sad
I haven't seen anywhere offerring anything other than fries or thinly cut chips. The days of propper chips with salt and vinegar seem to be over.

I've had pretty decent chips here - not too different from back home (don't taste like chippy chips - but then chippy chips are almost always soaked in vinegar and these usually aren't)

But the various attempts at Fish and Chips I've tried are worse than the oven-meal fish and chips you can get at Tesco. They're not entirely tasteless, (some are even quite nice) but they taste absolutely NOTHING like fish and chips.

My last hope is Busan...

Kyungsung university station is just south of Gwangalli Beach on the green subway line. It's alright. Honestly, though, I think you'd have better luck trying on a visit to Seoul. Busan has some decent western food, like the reubens at rock and roll bar or the burritos at fuzzy navel and taco senora, among a handful of others, but in general, western food isn't cheap or easy in this town, at least not in my two years here. I found myself eating more and more like a local due to this. On the bright side, it makes finding a decent vender or returning home for a visit that much sweeter. I remember almost crying when when costco opened up here and it meant I could have some classic costco supreme pizza, as crappy as that sounds back home, it was an amazing treat that first time.

Wow, I'm a chatty Cathy today. Sorry for rambling.
