I think the phone number listed on their "directions" page should get you to Dain or someone who can transfer you/take a message:
82-31-249-0114
Just don't be surprised if she's not in the office, and be sure not to call anywhere around lunch time (2 hours) ;) |

IF you are dialing from Korea then it would be 031-249-0114.

dain bae is USELESS....i can't believe that she has a job. Might be a good PR person but when it comes down to actually getting things done she is famous for passing the buck big time. For someone who is supposedly there to help you she's really mastered the art of doing nothing.
Kudos to Dain Bae, one of the many gems in the well oil machine that is GEPIK. |

what's your beef with her?
last I recall she handles middle/high school.... now ha-rim lee is good at swabbing things over....
apparantly when a teacher is attacked by a coteacher, that merits a single phone call and absolves GEPIK of any further contact... that's the word around the campfire at least. |

I've been here teaching for GEPIK for 3 years. There have been quite a few instances where contacting GEPIK was important to straight things out at school. Dain Baek is virtually impossible to contact......phone goes to answering machine and she doesn't return calls, or e-mails are never returned. My life here would have been so much more enjoyable if I had GEPIK watching my back. One of my most hated people while here.....DAIN BAEK. I'm sure she's a nice woman, just professionally incompetant. |

Dain Bae once mentioned that she was looking for a husband.
This was the opening day of the GEPIK conference when she made the introductory speech
And yes, Dain is "in charge" of maintaining Elementary school teachers. But I'd suggest you find your district coordinator first (talk to other NETs who have been teaching for 1+ years) |

She has had a few complaints here on this forum but I really don't think it's fair to place all the blame on her. She's not suppose to be responsible for sorting out ALL the problems a teacher can have at their respective schools. The person who is suppose to try and fix and sort out problems is the head teacher at your school. Each school has its own unique set of problems and Koreans don't like it when you go over their heads and try and fix the problem from a third party. It makes them lose face. Try your best to fix the problem on your own and if all else fails then call her and see if she can help. |

Dain cops a lot of crap...but mostly it's because people expect GEPIK to magically solve every problem that exists in a Public School. Not possible.
The current GEPIK structure has moved on a bit as well. Dain is more of an overseer. If you have a problem, you should contact your District Co-ordinator or your GEPIK Rep. It depends on whether you're Elementary or Middle/High who that is.
I have the list...OP...feel free to PM me the details (High School and which City you're in) and I'll give you contact details.
It's Orientation week...so it's not gooing to be easy to get a hold of people (aside from the Reps who are all just regular teachers). |

I've just deleted two sexist postings. Future ones will result in severe sanctions. You may assume that "severe" is a carefully chosen adjective in the preceding sentence. |

Who are the District Co-ordinators or GEPIK Reps? Can you just post the list?
It would be nice to know how certain people seem to have some inside information about contacting GEPIK officials. GEPIK officials should be equally available to talk to everyone, especially newbies who may be having problems. |

Hey Wylies...it's not a conspiracy. Your school received a book last year called 'Dr GEPIK'. Inside the book is a list of the GEPIK reps and other stuff (I don't have the book on me...but it was a 'helpful guide'). So...it isn't a secret list. Every school in Gyeonggi-Do was sent a copy of the book.
As for making the lists available for new teachers, the new teachers are provided with an Orientation book, which contains the list of GEPIK Reps, and District Co-Ordinators...and they meet their District Co-Ordinators at Orientation. So it's not one of those 'certain people' kind of things.
Here is the list of District Co-Ordinators from the GEPIK website

GEPIK hires directly and through recruiters. If you go through a recruiter, you won't get a lot of the "inside" info. I imagine this to be different if you go directly. |
