I'd do a search for this topic, but since the search engine is currently down...
With our game cafe barely getting by, I'm in the unfortunate position of having to get a regular full-time gig to help make ends meet. I vowed I was done teaching English in Korea... but you gotta do what you gotta do.
That said, I'm looking for the lowdown on any and all Shinchon-area (near Yonsei) hagwons. What's good... what's not... work schedules, pay rate... facilities... etc.
As far as I know, there's a Pagoda and an ELS in the area... a friend of mine used to work at the ELS school and she said it was alright.
Because I'm living in Hongdae, working nearby is my first choice. If that doesn't pan out, I might have to look elsewhere for work.
Thanks,

Quite a few hagwons there.
KISES, if it's still open, had a decent rep with teachers. I talked to a guy from BCM (closer to Ehwa) once and he said it was okay. English Care has been there for years (near BCM) but I have no idea how they are. Pagoda recently moved from Edae to an area nearer Shinchon but, again, I have no idea.
There is a kiddies hagwon in Hongdae (YBM or something) that always needs teachers (big staff with a lot of turn over, although most stay until the end of the contract). |

I used to hang out a bit at KISES (actually DJed a party there one night). The owner turned out to be a real *beep* so I stopped going there.
I r eally don't want to teach kids, but if there's a kids' school right nearby it might be worth a look.
Thanks!
