make sure to find a Korean to buy the alcohol for you, or bring some in from outside.... they cracked down after some yucks went overboard two years ago and ruined it for everyone...
that didn't prevent some of us last year from going out and drinking... but word 'round the campfire is one guy had too much, and threw up in his bathroom... everywhere but the toilet. |

i think it's smart to dress up for the first and last days. those are the days that someone from the school board (ie supervisor) is most likely to show up for. |

Anybody who's been to these things would chuckle... I can't imagine suiting up for any reason. I'd almost, almost say it's ok to wear pj pants. I'd almost, almost say it's expected... The whole thing felt like a giant sleepover. Oh, and the store sold us all the beer we wanted (no soju/ maekkoli) until 11 PM. So, it was like Canada, if the convenience stores there sold cheap beer by the can (they don't). |

Uummm? You are in public, right? Shouldn't you be wearing clean, presentable clothing anyway? |

Definitely no suit...you will look like an utter clown. Everyone is going to be so knackered from the flight over that most of them will be pretty casual, especially since it's the summer and it's hot. |

Really? I went to orientation early this year, and they sold alcohol on site. Also, again, the attendees went on a drinking spree. Reminded me of a college party. |

They let us buy beer from the food shop at SMOE orie on the last night which meant that ALL the beer was wiped out and cans were everywhere, plus we bought plenty when they let us go into town for "cultural experience" However, they did ban it for the first few days for that same reason. Some chumps couldn't maintain last year when they were drunk and f'd everything up for the rest of us |

Don't wear a suit unless you have to present a lecture.
Just come as you are.
Booze is available on site at the current venue...so if you are an alcoholic and fear three days of shaking...it's all taken care of. You don't need to accost a Korean to buy booze for you!
Just relax and try to enjoy yourself. |
