GEPIK contracts state that NETs are paid on the 17th of each month (Article 9.3, at least in the version I have), but say nothing about what pay period the payment on the 17th reflects. Does this vary from school to school?

One school has told me that when you get your paycheck on Sept 17th, for instance, they are paying you for the period from Sept. 1 to Sept. 30. This sounds very odd to me, and in the States I certainly never had a job that paid me in advance, as opposed to the days or hours I'd worked up to a specified date prior to the pay date. Advance payment in a GEPIK school paycheck would also seem wildly at contradiction with the mindset that employees need to pay a 900,000 won deposit to lower their chances of pulling a runner. I would be curious to hear from other GEPIK teachers as to what the situation is at their schools - what time period does your (virtual) paycheck on the 17th reflect? Thanks.

your school is different. Most schools GEPIK, EPIK, and SMOE pay NSETs the 24th. But like you mentioned, a lot depends on the school

Yes you get paid "in advance".

Any losses (days off) after pay day are deducted from the next pay period.

All taxes, pension, lunch deductions are also made. Plus teacher's dues. Get your earnings statement!

Your overtime from one month is paid into the next pay period.

Your school gives you 300,000 as "allowance money" and requests the money back in the first month as a "housing deposit". This is the dumbest thing, but whatever. Not much could be done about it.

You lose another 600,000 over the next 2 months to prevent you from "running". You get it all back provided you complete the contract.

Winterfall, the GEPIK contract was updated to give all NETs a payday on the 17th.

Really? payday on the 17th? That's hellishly convenient. Minus the contract leash. Sorry OP
