I have no idea about whether or not it's a good school, ask to talk to one of the teachers/the departing teacher you're replacing.
That said, Guri is a great city. Very relaxed, clean, lots of trees, less smog than downtown Seoul, cleaner streets. It reminds me of an American city, kind of like Portland, Oregon. It's not as exciting as Seoul but you can reach Line 2 via the Jungang line. I'd put it up there on my "actually want to live in this city" list. People I've talked to who lived there dug it.

Thats great news finally! Thanks a million.
Is asking the native speakers in the institute always gonna yield some real answers ? |

I teach at a public school in Guri and absolutely love it here. I'm 30-45 minutes from downtown Seoul, but Guri's got a lot of what you as well. Sorry I can't help with the hagwon in specific, but I second Guri as a wonderful place to live! |

My girlfriend and I interviewed for it this morning. They sound good and the recruiter said he ask for an email address for a current teacher.
My Korean friend from Seoul said that Oe Dae is a University in Guri and thinks we could be working in the language centre of the University.
I would imagine that this is a good thing if its the case ? |

Oedae is not a University. It is a Hakwon. |

I know it is a university in Seoul according to my Seoulite friend. However i believe you are right in that it is just a name of a chain of hagwons also. |

So had the interview and think it went well. They had a nice girl from Manchester there for us to talk to without us having to even ask. She and her boyfriend have been there for two years and after they finish this contract are going back home to do CELTA and go the career TEFL route.
I took all this as excellent signs but I am always going to take everything with a healthy dose of cynicism. Anyone see any probs with this info ? |

Consider it a miracle that they let you talk to a teacher up front without you even having to ask. |

So excellent news then - will be getting an email address for her if chosen by the school. Will ask the nasty questions then when she is not in the school itself ! |
