Bought a motorcycle this weekend, and got a bit unlucky... My friend was riding it today (was storing it at his house) and the chain broke. It's a '96 Daelim VS125. I know it's a pretty standard repair, just wondering a ballpark figure of what the cost should be. I don't speak Korean and don't want to get ripped off by the mechanic....

Mine cost me 40'000. They also fixed my starter, but it didn't need any parts, so I guess knock a few cheonwons off the price for just the chain. I drive a 97 (or 98, dunno) Daelim Magma. It's likely the chain for yours would be exactly the same as mine.

The guy who I bought the bike from called his friend who owns a shop and quoted me around 50k for a new chain and sprockets. I guess that price is not too bad.... I'll try to get a translation from a Korean friend and see if the place closer to me will do it for cheaper.. Thanks for your input!

Cost me 250k... has a bit of unknown history regarding mileage, but it runs good for its age. The only thing I need to fix besides the newly broken chain are the front brakes.

Mine was 300k. That 40'000won repair was the most money I've spent on it in three years. I've neglected oil changes, and generally tried to run the thing into the ground. Curse their reliability! I can't justify buying a new bike until this one dies.

Edit: Err, minus insurance which runs about 140k/year.
