|
|
I have a decent but unassuming hand phone, a Show, maybe two years ago which I bought used in April 2009. The phone works just fine for my purposes, but the battery has slowly, steadily, needed to be recharged more and more often. (When the charger shows a green light I unplug the phone from it, but don't leave it charging much longer.) It needed it maybe once every 10 days when I got the phone, but now it's every other day - and I spend only an average of 10 minutes per day texting or talking.
I asked two Show stores if they had a replacement battery - the first did not, and the second almost implied the battery was fine since I could still charge and use it. So...
1) Does this seem like a battery problem to you? If not, then what's going on?
2) Can I expect to find a replacement battery for a phone this age, or would I be better off just changing the phone? This one cost me 60,000, used and maybe six months old.
3) If I do change the phone, can I use the same SIM card to maintain my same phone number, or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks again! |

It's normal for rechargable batteries to degrade over time.
What is the model number of the phone? Shops might not carry every battery for every phone (especially older models), but if you let us know what kind of phone it is we can help you find one. You'll almost definitely be able to find one online somewhere.
In response to question number 3... If you buy a new phone you can keep the same SIM card and same phone number as long as you stay with Show/KT/Qook or whatever they're calling themselves these days. If you switch to LG or SK you'll have to get a new SIM, but you may still be able to keep the number. |

KTF WCOMA? That's what the phone says when I power it on. Silly, probably, but that's all I can see when I look for a phone name - it's a 3G, a slider, says SHOW on the front, black on bottom and around the screen, silver otherwise. I went through all nine menus and found nothing. Quite an ordinary phone - maybe it's embarrassed to give itself a name?
Thanks for how you can help, though - if nothing else I may pop another 60,000 or whatever with Show and keep the sim card. |

Now I'm seeing some stuff... but which is it?
On the phone itself, behind where the battery would be:
U-5000
PNC-U-5000
2007.05.29
173756 (M/N FEB5)
On the back side of the battery:
(In Korean letters:) Mo-del-myaeng) (In Western letters:) PBE1039L
SERIAL NO: DC0705221 DPA (All that for a battery?)
Any ideas which is the phone model number? I did a Web search on "pbe1039l" and got nothing.
Thanks again! |
