Partically the mildly spicy type. The closest thing I can find is spagetti sauce which is similar although a different flavour or hot sauce, which isn't meant for covering noodles with in a stir-fry.

I looked at the Costco and the foreign food shop in Itaewon, but didn't see any.

Look in the Thai sauces. I used to get a really good Thai stir fry sauce in Lotte - and I'm sure it will be in the Asia marts. You can jazz it up with dried Thai chilli powder and thai hot chilli sauce.

There's also a Thai Oyster sauce that you can stir fry meat in (I think they use that for Pak A Pow Moo) Yummy.

Good luck.

Thanks. I'll take a look at the Thai sauces, particularly in Lotte and if I can find one, an Asia mart.

Making it sounds interesting, but I've no idea where I'd start outside of something involving peppers or chili.

What kind of noodles are you trying to make?

Stir fry sauce for meat & veggies is easy.
Typical ingredients:
soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, vegetable oil, sugar,
with garlic, ginger, sesame seeds or oil, scallions,
You can find a recipe online easily.
It sounds like a lot of work but most of it is just pouring and mixing.
Meat and veggies need to be chopped. You can marinate the meat ahead of time if you want for extra flavor. (You can use tofu sometimes if you want.)

Red pepper flakes or chili peppers for spiciness.

the asia marts have lots of thai and malay sauces. I've checked the ingredients and most of them are 100% natural; no crap in them.

The trick with Thai sauces/ingredients/sachets etc is to make sure they have some Thai writing on them (also a little Made in Thailand sentence flag somewhere). If you see Thai writing - then it's for Thais (and not the plastic watered down versions for selling in Western supermarkets).

Enjoy.

PS: Everytime I returned from vacation in Thailand I used to bring back 30 litres of Thai cooking stuff (including sauces) but now you can't take fluids as carry on', it isn't possible (sob). Still the Asia Marts around bus stations have some of it - although it's really pricey.
