Right now I'm watching Lethal Weapon. I also vote for Die Hard, The Running Man, Scrooged, The Thing, and Jumping Jack Flash. Note that I'm not necessarily looking for cinematic excellence of the Oscar variety. I'm looking more for great entertaining movies to watch on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

80's comedies rocked! My top 5:

The Cannonball Run
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Good Morning, Vietnam
Weekend at Bernie's
Caddyshack

And other films that come to mind:

Amadeus
Stand By Me
Near Dark
Tron
Blade Runner
The first four Star Trek sequels
Silverado

Quote:

Absolutely! Early Cusack: The Sure Thing, Better Off Dead, even less lasting flicks as One Crazy Summer, Hot Pursuit.

Though it started in the 70s, the 80s were the pinnacle of the cheesy slasher flick: Nightmare on Elm St., Friday the Thirteenth, along with countless others.

Of course. But I didn't mention that because it's classic seventies and this is an 80's thread.

You mean, with Sam Neill! Smile (Love that kiwi!) I forgot to mention that 1989 flick. I saw it once again in Korea a couple of years ago and it was as fresh as ever. A great film. Billy Zane was fantastic in the villainous role. All three actors made the film a work of art.

I was really into Cold war era movies.

Repo Man- Regan Era Punk rock Sci Fi farce. Great sound tract. Has some great quotes. a must see.

Threads- One of best Nuclear war movies ever made. Very horrific. Has great old fashioned warning segments similar to ones on the Crass albums between songs British movie very well done.

that movie is hillarious! the movie is set in a prehistoric time, but in one scene Yor is on a beach and you can clearly see tire tracks all over the sand.

BTW, I vote for Raging Bull or Do the Right Thing. Screw that, I vote for Aliens!
