ok heres my deal. i came here in january. my visa is up on December 23rd. 6 months in i switched jobs/employers from a hagwon to an after school program.
I called my boss today and told him i have to do a visa run because its up in December, but he says no i can just go to immigrations and do a little paperwork and they can process it there without going to Japan.
WHen i first started with the new company, my employer got a sticker put in my passport that says "change of employment" so does this mean my visa is extended, too? im confused. |

It's quite possible that what he's saying is true. When you transfer, you don't necessarily extend your period of sojourn at the same time. In that case, your ARC will expire on the original date. But nothing to worry about. You and your boss just fill out another form from the immigration office and hand it in with 60,000 Won and some minor paperwork and you're good to go. It will take a couple days but it should be done the week before your ARC expires.
When you first came here, did you use a apostilled (or notarized) copy of your diploma? Did you use a federal CBC? If no to either, then you'll need updated docs to extend your ARC expiry date. |
