I miss Michael's crafts. It's like, yes Dongdaemun is fun, but if you want to go ahead and sew or knit without spending a whole afternoon gathering supplies, it would be nice to run into a Michael's or a JoAnn's and not to have to deal with stuff that is labeled "loole" yet burns like a synthetic...I couldn't tell you which one, it's been too long since I was last in a textile lab. I'm not fond of burning fibers to figure out what they are. I caught my hair on fire once. Fortunately, someone else put it out before I got hurt.

Home Depot/Lowes Hardware

I used to go in there and wander for hours. Then, I would decide on something I would try and learn, buy the materials, go home and try it myself. Fun times...built myself a wicked catapult once.

Yes, they sell fabric there. Someone on craftster.org posted directions to the fabric stalls, and you will also see some beautiful curtains and other home decor items. In a given day, you will only be able to see a bit of it, and it's fun, but I miss the way stores back home are so organized.

Pardon my snobbery, but what's to miss? I absolutely love the shopping here...it's not as good as Tokyo by a long shot, but it is still great nevertheless...except, I am seeing too much black, gray and brown clothes here this fall...the clothing is suddenly lacking here and losing its princessy touch...I have to search harder for princess style clothing here...and dodge all those huge tent shirts that flatter no one...BUT

Let's see, I have Nature Republic, Etude House, Skin Food, Holika Holika, Tony Moly, Innisfree, Lush...PLUS dept. stores full of individual brand shops, underground subway shops, H&M, Forever 21, and I have to try out Baviphat...plus there are TONS of other great places for clothes here...so I can't say I miss anything here...I just miss tropical fruits and avocados...(good avocados)...I was in heaven because I found papaya yesterday...^^ But do I miss Slawmart??? I mean, Wal-Mart? Nope.

I miss Old Navy...perfect clothes that aren't too old for me and not too young for me...They recently started offering shipping to South Korea, but with shipping and VAT a $110 shipment quickly ballooned into over $200.

American Eagle, Express for Men, Abercrombie (although there are a few outlets and some decent substitutes available).

As far as restaurants go, I miss Old Country Buffet. I bet they could make buckets of money opening a few franchises in select areas of Seoul, provided they market it as a higher-end restaurant buffet. It could be a nice addition to Apgujeong, Gangnam St., and especially Hongdae. I can already picture in my head the packs of young Korean girls going there and taking pictures of themselves eating all different kinds of western food. Charge maybe 20K/head.
