Are any of you guys experiencing this right now? i cant help but to put at least part of the blame on me. About my situation: I work at an after school program with one other teacher.
But this is the problem:
One kids mother complains that not enough studying is going on with her child inside my class. This is the SAME kid who WILL NOT work when asked. He plays and talks with his friend and is the class clown.
Other parents complain its too loud in our classes and they pulled their kids out.
There has been roughly a 20 or so student decline.

The co-teacher is ridiculously too easy-going with the kids. She doesnt scold them enough and they run around acting crazy. She lets them braid her hair, throw things around, cuss, tell me dirty things, and just allows anything goes at times. I try to step in and control my classes, but lets face it, they aint listening to a waygook like they do with a K-teacher. Ive expressed my feelings to her but shes the same. Then she has the nerve to say, "yea, when students drop out, i lose money" WELL THEN GET STICTER ON THE KIDS!
Dont let them into the teachers room and play on the computer,
when my kids act up help me out with it instead of coming in my room and laughing and lightly telling them to knock it off,
get off your damn phone during class, and shape up!

The other school i go to the kids are angels bc the other k-teacher there is strict. Coincidence? I think not.

How do you feel about student dis-enrollment at your work?

After school programs are another fine example of why education and profit dont mix.

You seem to understand the situation pretty well. Management doesn't care about discipline, and the Korean teacher is trying to be friends with the students. Both of these things completely remove any authority you have with the students.

Wait out your contract and look for a better job, that's really your only option. Things aren't going to change.

yes, but as the sh!* hits the fan, im being blamed (i bet from the easy going k-teacher) for the drop in enrollment which may lead to a negative reference. She doesnt seem to realize that it BEGINS with HER. If she sets the tone, the atmosphere would change in the program. The students would respect her, and not to mention me a little more as her co-teacher. When kids know they can get away with running around like idiots all day, then why in the hell would they listen to a foreigner?
Laughing Im just venting. Thanks for the response, though.

I hear ya.

You should have thrown the class clown out. No reason why 20 others should drop out and the 'problem child' is still there.

Tell the ineffective whelp to sit in the back and do nothing. Then you take control of class, Mr Mean/Bad Tee-chaa then play fair. Kids love it. Kids will love you.

Kids respect respectful people. You let them know you are the Boss, they won't screw up (as much). Hope that helps
