Most of the people I know who have secured teaching jobs in Korea have gotten certified in the States first.....but are there certification programs you can do while in Korea that also set you up with a job and contract, etc?

I would get certified here first, but I live in San Diego and all of the TESOL programs I've found are either outrageously expensive ($2,000 and up) or they seem sketchy.

And on a side note, do most people even get certified, or land jobs without the TESOL certification? I have a bachelor's degree but no teaching experience and would feel intimidating walking into a classroom with no formal training...
