|
|
i wonder where teachers live when they work in the gangnam area because house prices are so expensive.
is it right to think that when housing is provided by the private schools (located in gangnam/daechi) it is a few subway/bus stops away?
OR is it going to be close to the school but of a low quality due to the housing prices?
if you work for a private school/hagwon in gangnam area, what is your housing like and where is it in relation to your school?
any advice is much appreciated. |

The answer to you question really depends on your school. |

I know some people whose schools house them nearby in very small accommodations.
I know other people who are a few stops away on the orange line in reasonably sized villa style accommodation.
It depends. |

From what I've seen it's mostly officetels in one of South Korea's many luxurious apartment blocs. |

apparently the arranged accommodation is a 20min subway ride away. it sounds like a bit of mission to me,but it is that far because the alternatives in close proximity to school are too small and old. |

I'll be teaching in Gangnam as well, I get a housing allowance and I'm looking at somewhere near Seoul National University... |

Everyone I know who teaches in Gangnam also has housing in Gangnam. I haven't heard any complaints about quality of housing. My place is an office-tel that I am happy with, both in terms of size and quality. If you opt for the housing allowance like Isehtis then obviously you are free to live anywhere.
For maximum comfort I'd recommend that you get a place within walking distance of either your workplace or your favorite drinking area. I have a 5 minute walk to work and I know how ridiculously lucky I am, especially on those dog-tired nights after teaching 11 hours during winter intensives. |

11 hours???? WTF??
Let me guess...you work for Youngdo?? Or CDI?
I don't care if it is overtime, never teach that many hours. |
