Selling my AF Zoom Nikkor 70-300mm F4-5.6G. I bought a D90 on Gmarket last August that came with 3 lenses and this is one of them. Used it maybe 3 times. The site where I bought it from say it is 정품 (original import I think is what it means and not gray market.)
If you have the 18-55mm lens then this would be a good addition if you want to go longer.
Reason for selling is that I upgraded to the VR version. I am located in Geoje but will ship. I think I still have the box but I have to check when I get home.
Lowest price I can find online is W133,000.
Selling for W100,000 obo. or make me an offer.

If you have the 18-55, odds are you probably have the 55-200 in which case the 70-300 gets you nothing. The 70-300 is a full frame, 35 mm lens. The 18-55, 55-200 are the DX lens. If you are shooting a digital camera, then you have a DX (unless you have the D3 or D700, in which case, you would not be looking for this lens anyway). Using a full frame on a DX is fine, but the smaller area means that the total length is less. I.E., the 300 mm full frame on a DX is only about 204 mm.
So, if you have the kit lens' 55-200, don't get this one. If you don't have it, then its an alright lens. I have it for my F100. Slow to focus, but so is the 55-200.
Just wanted to clarify that. |

Not really sure where you learned this, but it certainly isn't the case. The 70-300 gives a field of view equivalent to a 105-450mm lens when used on a DX body. Just like the 55-200mm gives you a field of view of 77.5-300mm on a DX body. Take the original numbers and multiply by 1.5. The difference between 300mm and 450mm is considerable. |

Let me try again. You are right in that the 300 mm will reach out further, but the field of view will not be larger. Because the sensor on a DX is smaller, you lose a bit on each side, making the angle of view narrower, and the field of view smaller.
To take a photo at 300 mm on a full frame camera, you would have an angle of view that is 6'52",but on the DX, that angle would be narrower because you are clipping off the edges. To that end, you can get in closer with the 300 on a DX, but the field of view is not the same as if you were using a 300mm DX lens. |
