|
|
I would like to ideally start in February 2015 (Spring Term) so I thought I should be applying now, well in advance.
I have been looking for a Hagwon English teaching job in Seoul for 2 weeks now, but I am getting hardly any replies.
If anyone out there has had any experience, I would just like to know if this is normal and when the best time would be to apply for jobs starting in Spring 2015.
Thank you for reading.
Also...I have this theory that a really good and established Hagwon would recruit well in advance. Does anyone else think this to be true or is it actually the opposite? I would like to hear what you think. |

Hii..
Yes, your theory is correct, that there are a 'few' places hiring now for february and they tend to be places providing a little better than normal benefits, but, keep in mind, will also be harder to get (they will be seeing many teachers in for interviews etc).
But, you are mostly looking to early actually.. Although, if you are out of country, you are at a little disadvantage for the 'good' jobs. I would wait until at least december to start looking. |

The standard semester runs from sept-nov, dec-feb, mar-may and june-aug
A lot of schools hire up to two months in advance, especially if a teacher is abroad.
just because a school hires well in advance, doesnt make it a good place to work at. Most of the big chains do this, and they are hit or miss. |

60-90 days before your intended start date. Any earlier than that and most employers won't have any idea - they usually only know a month or two in advance when they need a new foreigner and often not till the last minute.
For hagwon jobs starting in Feb/March you should be proactive around XMAS.
