Michael Moore uploaded these clips on YouTube of U.S. soldiers teasing Iraqi detainees. They come from that mother load of files stolen and give to Wikileaks by that young U.S. soldier.

What are you thoughts? I just think that the military should isolate the detainees from the soldiers. Not all of these guys are terrorists necessarily.

But this doesn't really bother me. If I was the NCO in charge of it, I would def lay the smack down, but nothing other than that. If it was an infantry unit that caught them laying IED's, then a handover to the IP and a savage beating would result (at least). If they were pulled out cause their neighbor turned them in... I would be pretty careful about mistreatment, as more than likely the neighbor was settling the score.

Speaking just for me, whatever rules are in place, their has to be some sort of reciprical agreement in terms of prisoner treatment. If you hear about an American being buggered and tortured and then having his head cut off, you are going to have a hard time controlling your guys. If you watch "band of brothers" and "the Pacific" you see this. Germans were usually decent, relatively speaking to our POWS, and they got model treatment from us. Japanese often cut genitals off and beheaded people. They often did not get model treatment.

By the by, this does not excuse abu gharab, bagram or anything like that. Big difference between getting caught by the guy you just tried to kill, and having a prison guard torture you. In Iraq and Afghanistan, nobody has behaved well towards prisoners, and I have a hard time sorting out who started it.

Damn, people are so sensitive. Those videos are tame, but the comments by some people are ridiculous. It's called war. Kill or be killed. I hate this whole sanitized warfare concept that is now the norm. You think a country like China would care about how the enemy would be treated. Oh, that's right, the US should be held to a higher standard...which is exactly why the US has been weakened. So there was some taunting in the video..big deal. But all you morons make these guys out to be the Waffen SS. Rolling Eyes

If this is the worst Michael Moore could dig up in his search for something to manufacture outrage, I have a hard time getting too upset. When our soldiers are murdering innocents, I get outraged. When they're acting like annoying teenagers, I'm just left shrugging.

Yeah, when Michael Moore can only get a "oh, that's not nice" without even having to take a step back to look at the bigger picture... well there's not much to it.

I hate soldiers
They are so ignorant, arrogant and just plain stupid in most cases.

All a person has to do is being able to shoot and have a pulse to be a soldier.
Other than that, they could have the moral and ethical capacity of a cucumber.
Honestly, I have no remorse for soldiers who are killed in combat these days. They are fighting for a god-awful foreign policy that doesn't even have much backing by their allies- everyone hates the US now.

The sooner the US is defeated in Afghanistan, the better.

Absolutely true. Once the Taliban is in control, we will see a moral rebirth, and the people shall live in peace and harmony.

I thought the Taliban killed all the leprechauns for their alleged proselytizing.

Pretty sure I read that somewhere.

Yeah, the Taliban suppressed the four-leaf clover crop as well. And don't you know it, as soon as the Americans come, the four-leaf clover trade became the basis of the Afghan economy.

Very embarrassing for the Pentagon.
