Man, I wish I know what happened over the weekend. I remember going out Saturday night with other English teachers and when I woke up late Sunday morning it wasn't in my apartment, but the office room in my co-teacher's apartment. I was shocked and checked my phone and saw that I made 2 calls to my co-teacher during the wee hours and 4 calls from her.

I asked her what happened and she said it was ok, nothing more. I called all the people who I remember being out with and they all said we went our own way after midnight.

First call to the coteacher was shortly after 3am. Last call from the coteacher was a little before 6am, Sunday. I would really like to know but I think I'm pushing it by asking her. She clearly does not want to talk about it. OOOOOOps??? The reason why i wasn't in my apartment was because there was no wallet or keys on me. I guess she found me somewhere??? Do you think she will be telling the P and VP about this? I really hope not.

First - Grow up and learn to handle your booze. This isn't college anymore. Behavior like that is unacceptable and is not taken by respectable people. If you have a problem, then you shouldn't drink.

Second - Yeah, everyone is going to hear about it. Teachers love to gossip. It's a fact of life. It might not make it around to the P or VP, but you'll probably be getting a few odd looks in the coming days.

Third - This does tend to happen, even to Koreans. She's probably a little upset with you, but she also knows this happens. I would bet money she has some weird drunk stories of her own or has babysat her friends or boyfriends the same way in the past. You should take it upon yourself to thank her greatly for her help. More than just buying her a coffee or rice tea. Don't even think about taking her out for dinner though. You'll be tempted to have a round or two and that's going to make her uncomfortable. A nice hand written card and something respectful from a department store would be a good idea. She went out of her way to comfort you, the least you could do is show your appreciation.

I'm so sick of grown adults acting like idiots because they don't know how to drink. I have little patience for it.

Im not going to pile on, but i second the guy who said hopefully you will grow from this immature moment and be better for it. How old are you if you dont mind? ill say 24-25?
Hey OP, screw it, it happened and its over. I wouldnt go all out for your co-worker because if she told everyone then they already know, so whats the point. Just apologize profusely to her and you'll be ok. Maybe get her something small if you want to. But never, ever do this again. Bad foreigner Smile

How old is she? Is she married/kids, etc? If she's older she might be annoyed. If she's younger she might not even care.

I've met a lot of young co-teachers (younger than 35) who would laugh it off. Even some ajossis would probably have a laugh at this. My 45 year old co- would definitely be entertained by this. As long as it happens only one time, hah.

Was it soju? I bet it was soju. Nothing makes me black out as bad as soju. I've stopped drinking the swill because I really can't judge how far along I am. 14 years of fairly regular drinking and I can handle pretty much anything except soju. It's partly the culture and having to drink every drink that those older than you force upon you too.
