Where would be the best place to buy the new iPhone? It is for a friend so I want to buy one without a contract. Is there a waiting period because of demand?

KT has "Global Shops." Have a Korean-issued credit card? Then you can get a contract.

One shop is at Jongno 2-ga at the Jongno end of Insadong street. You'll see Burger King on one corner, and the KT shop is across the street from Burger King.

You'll pay full price for it (32gb = 934,000 KRW) and you may have to pay-as-you-go (more expensive).

Hmm, can't you get a contract for it later? Any idea how much cheaper it is with the contract?

It's a little complicated to buy a phone for someone unless it's for someone in your family or someone whose bill you'll be paying for. Phones have different plans, etc. They are a lot pricier without a contract so you'll be wasting money if you do it that way. The best thing is to either go with your friend to the store and buy it for him/her there. Then they can choose which plan they want.

Or buy an ipad or ipod touch. They both run the same apps that an iphone does and are as much fun. The ipad is pricier than an ipod touch.
