Anyone know a rough estimate? I'm on an F-class visa and trying to negotiate for a higher salary, would be nice to know about how much it costs the school to do an E-2.

Theoretically, shouldn't you be more concerned with how much doing an E2 makes for an employer?

It doesn't cost them enough to warrant a salary increase...unless you're asking for an extra $50/year!

Round trip plane ticket = approximately 2.4 million.

Housing = 10 million Key money + 500,000/mo

Severance = 200,000/mo

Pension = 100,000/mo

Health Insurance = 75000 month

Recruiter fee = up to 1 million

Time, aggravation and the unknown.

lame, I thought it cost a couple mil in immigration fees. I guess the only big expense for the visa is the ARC medical check.

It costs the school nothing for the E2 process.
The visa confirmation number is free.
The employee pays for the visa at the home consulate.

The employer pays the airfare to Korea.
The employer pays the housing (or housing allowance).

Typically the employee pays for the medical and the ARC.

There is no cash savings for the hakwon other than perhaps the airfare (if the F4 is already in Korea).

The only benefit is the lack of extra paperwork needed to get the visa (so they can legally to ASAP) instead of waiting for the E2 to get processed.
