Hi All!
I am writing as a favor to anyone who is considering a position here. I have worked here for a few months now, and the owner has literally stolen money out of my paycheck. He has overcharged me for bills, and I have proof that he has done so. When I tried to discuss it with him, he would get angry at me or change the subject. I went to the Pension office and hospital and they both showed me the ACTUAL amount that I should have been charged.
He has also argued with 2 teachers that are leaving in 1 week because he refused to pay for their plane tickets to return home. They fought with him for weeks, and one is not getting her full severance pay.
I have researched a ton, called the U.S. embassy (they were not much help), immigration, and the labor board. I was told my only option other than hiring a lawyer was to file a complaint to my local labor board.
If anyone is having similar issues, it seems the only way for you to get your money back is to go to the labor board.
I have heard many similar stories, and I do hope that everything has worked out for everyone else.
Please research your job carefully before you decide to work there. |

The three of you might consider going to a lawyer together and split the bill. Lawyers are expensive and I've seen it happen that hagwon owners give in when they are told that a lawyer is involved. |

3 step revenge plan:
step 1: pull a tripple runner at the same time.
step 2: get 3 buddies to apply for jobs with the hogwan as soon as you pull the runner.
step 3: your buddies string the employer along as much as they can, perhaps even sending defunct docs that will be rejected by immigration, therefore preventing him from getting replacement foreigners. |

I worked at an SLP for a little over 2 years and had a great time so you just got unlucky with yours. The thing is, Sogang (spelling?) will not put up with rotten owners wrecking SLP's good name Seriously though, get in touch with someone at the head office, they will do something about it. You may not get your money, but at least you'll have the satisfaction of knowing your boss got a good talking to by someone. As far as not getting all your money, keep track of what your are owed, then rob that crap from the staff room at the end of your contract. Childish? yes. Illegal? Yes. Justice? Almost. The triple runner isn't a bad idea either. |

Thanks everyone! I am going to file a complaint with the labor board. i heard that is really the only way to get my money back.
One of the teachers backed out because the school said they would pay her back. The other is coming with me to the labor board.
I dont have money for a lawyer, otherwise that would have been an option. He owes me over $1,000.
I am going about it the honest, legal way. I also emailed SLP, so hopefully they will write me back.
Thanks again! |

Is Seosan one of the main branches of Slave Labor Program or a franchise SLP? I am not sure if SLP head office will care much if it`s the latter.
Good luck though. Keep up updated. |
