I'm setting up KEB online banking and it looks like I'll have to install nProtect and use internet explorer for it.
Is nProtect going to slow down my system and will I constantly have hangeul popups for online games?
Is it a good idea to install nProtect on my new laptop or should I put it on one of the work computers and do my banking there? Am I able to put the security key on a USB and use it with multiple computers or am I tied down to one? |

Yeah, it's a little anoying but not too bad. There won't be any popups with it (at least not with my NH Bank security key). You can put it on a USB no problem, which is probably the better way to go so you can use more than one computer... |

You can put it on a USB or external harddrive, the install box gives you the choice. I've had it installed for a long time and I never see it unless I'm actually on KEB's website. Doesn't interact with or affect anything else on my computer/online. |

To use KEB online banking, be prepared for it to download load a lot of stuff every time you log in (well, unless you're logging in everyday presumably). I log in about once every 2 or 3 weeks and it always downloads heaps of stuff. Having said that, my computer doesn't seem to have been affected and I'm not getting lots of pop ups. It's a real hassle to set up, but once it's working you can do a lot with it. Keep your little code-card handy. You need it for almost everything.
Apparently you don't have to use IE (according to previous threads on this topic), but if you've got Windows, my feeling is that it would just be easier to use it. Korean sites + non-IE browers = World of Frustration. |

i avoid, avoid and avoid.
this nProtect is like a virus. I could not get rid of it once I installed it. just my own personal experience. if you can, install on usb stick and not on your comp. |

Download Microsoft Virtual PC and install Windows XP on there. Works like a charm every time I have to endure Korean online banking. |

I ended up putting it on one of the work computers that is new and not crippled by viruses and malware. I think I'll try the virtual PC route when i put it on my computer. |

I run Windows through Parallels on my Mac, and I've never had a problem with 'net banking. Since I rarely use IE for anything but banking, there's been no issue with running nProtect. It only comes on when I log in to Shinhan/KB/KEB anyway. |
