the word on the street is that ALL 15 foreign teachers at this Christian All-English Immersion School will NOT be coming back starting in March.
Anybody have any insider info? |

Did anyone reply to you regarding this situation? I was thinking of applying to this school... So any information would be much appreciated! |

I can't speak for this particular sahmyook school, but I used to work for one in another city and it was much better than what you've listed. However, I've heard from friends that still work there that they want to institute the same changes you've outlined. I thought it was just the work of a new principal but maybe not. It used to be a great place to work but it sounds like it's going to the dogs. |

Wow, seriously? I don't know much about the school at all, but it sounds like a school to avoid. I know someone who applied there but decided to work for another immersion school instead, that's all I know about this one. |

"Word on the Street" is so often distorted, or completely inaccurate. There were about 17 teachers in the English language programs, last year. There are in fact two English programs - 'Immersion' and 'International' - as well as a large Chinese program. At this point it would appear that the only English teachers not re-signing are those who will be returning to USA or Canada. for personal reasons, and most of these have been with Taegang for more than a year. Taegang is an excellent school. The International Program, especially, is quite famous (already, after just 2 years), and very exclusive. There is a waiting list for new students, who are heavily screened for scholastic aptitude and English fluency. It's an integrated program, so you have to be able to teach Math and Science, rather than English phrases and grammar, as you would in a Hagwon or public school, and new teachers are expected to deliver a sample Science or Math class (with integrated ppt slideshow) in order to make the cut. Good luck if you are going for that interview -- i don't think there are many openings left. |

I always prefer to trust the "word around the campfire...." ESPECIALLY when it involves Marcellus Wallace... |

the word on the street was the word of TRUTH! the streets never lie...
i did not do a powerpoint presentation, and neither did some other people that interviewed there and got offers. you don't need to do that, you just have to be good with kids, show that you care, and demonstrate that you can run the class and teach instead of letting the kids run YOU!
the kids, by the way, were incredibly smart. i have no doubt that this school will grow and become more famous. it's just a matter of what you want out of your job and your time in Korea. i passed on the job, and accepted one of those jobs that give you 16 weeks of vaca per year. |

Nothing was learned from the Internet except your true identity. How do you think the Huskies stack up against UofA this weekend?
And seriously, you DO know how much vacation I get. |
