I recently renewed my passport and am curious to what the process is to transfer my e-2 to it?. I imagine a trip to immigration will be in order?, or is there a simpler way? Any advice would be appreciated.

Unfortunately you NEED to make the trip to immigration and LEGALLY you are obligated to do it within 14 days of your receiving your new passport.

They will:

a) IF you are American, they will simply change the data in the computer and take a copy of your information page.

b) IF you are NOT American, they will change the data in your computer, take a copy of your information page AND move your re-entry permit to your new passport (assuming you had one). If you don't have one they won't add anything to your passport.

First as opposed to what? In Japan, I had to go to a ward office, but that was after going to immigration. In Korea, immigration is the ONLY place you need to go to.
