I did a search using both Dave's search and Google custom search but wasn't able to find what I was looking for.
I'm currently two months into my third contract at my school in Ulsan. I was an EPIK hire and have that contract. However I'd like to switch starting in March. My school knows of my intention (and agree that I should try different schools for a different experience, though they will miss me) and we're on good terms so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll give them at least 30 days notice and pay back part of the renewal bonus.
What do I have to do to transfer? Can I do this through a recruiter, directly apply to EPIK Seoul, or do I have to talk to my MOE and have them do this?
Will I have to do a VISA run to Japan or can they just transfer it within the country? |

You'll have to talk to your MOE and recruiter about what you're wanting to do.
Also, you'll have to start the visa process from the scratch. Yes, visa run to Japan.
I'll have to commend you for surviving ulsan MOE for over two years. I've heard some horror stories about that place. |

A friend of mine recently transferred from UMOE to GEPIK. He just had to go to Suwon immigration. Though his contract finished and he signed a new one afterwards, rather than directly transferring. I talked to Footprints and they said they couldn't help me at all. I guess I just have to talk to the MOE.
My school is really good so it wasn't much of a problem for me here, heh. But if I had a bad school I don't know how I would've survived. |
