Thoughts? Opinions?

I've been following it for a while and now that it's been released, I've been checking out the reviews and videos online.

It looks pretty nice & everything but given the market these days is all about "Apps", it might be a little difficult for WP7 to break into the market solidly.

That being said, the Xbox live integration is pretty sweet, I'd like to see how this develops.

Just wish I could play with it here in Korea Sad

Usually in a market place the more choices there are the better .........

....but in smartphone software I don't know if it helps to have more than, say, 3 OS's......the more smartphone OS's there are the smaller each ones app market would be.....no?

I suppose a big corporation like Microsoft can pay people to make lots of apps for it's OS......as can Google and Apple I suppose....

I guess we're at the beginning stages of a big smartphone OS war.......I think only 2-3 will win out and become dominant...

I think it looks fantastic but I'm not sure who their target is.

Apple users - the type of person who cares not for things like right clicking on a mouse, memory cards and can wait several years for "new" features that are called apple revolutions - really tough to crack that type of crowd

That leaves the rest of us, in the smartphone market that's Android and BB OS users as well as those looking to jump in (of course there's web os, symbian and a few others). Since people tend to upgrade their phone every 2 years or so there's a real chance that with the right hardware support it could take off. There's enough room out there to support everyone, but developers are going to be frustrated. I don't seem RIM losing their stranglehold of the corporate market anytime soon and Android seems to be eating up everything else that's not-Apple with a huge app following. Going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

I LOVE the zune implementation though.

was thinking that today we now have (in no order):

Apple
Android
Nokia
Windows
Blackberry

Lot of competition!
Lots of Apps to be ported to different systems, and more bugs there to fix, I don't really see any one platform being way better than any other? Apart from Blackberry, not to hot on those.

I'm gonna be brave and change/shorten that list to "Platforms with a viable future" (nothing wrong with yours) & in no order:

iOS
Android
Windows P7
Web OS

Blackberry, though they do have an App market, is really lagging. The new OS on the Torch was nice.. but it should of game out a while ago. Saying that, the tablet they have in development looks pretty sweet. Wonder if they can implement that into phones..

Nokia needs to drop symbian. I like nokia, but come on... I thought the n900 was a great step forward, but they kinda let it slip away. Now they are developing MeeGo phones, but still, they gotta get with the program. Slipping waaaaay behind, software wise.

Web OS is interesting. The opportunities available for it are there, its just whether or not HP can actually work it.

And thats my ramble.

Really don't know what to say on Windows phone 7. I like Windows 7 on the pc but this mobile version looks like one of those sliding tile kid's puzzles. Lots of big squares to slide around. If its anything like windows mobile it will go down like a bag of bricks. As apple likes to say it depends on the apps but more importantly if the UI looks like a kids puzzle I wonder who will buy it. It's puzzling to say the least. Twisted Evil
