join him.
i signed up to him about 6 weeks ago and didn't hear much. out of the blue he e-mails me with a job and i told him i'd already accpted a job with GEPIK.
he thought i'd i'd said EPIK which he thne went onto slate, after correcting him, he said GEPIK were the same, they would put me in some rural place in the middle of nowhere, 'they are no good'
he said he could get my husband a part time job, despite him not being a gradtute from a British university and coming on a F3 visa (illegal to work on a F3 visa). But being a british citizen it would be ok.
he also said, because i was of Pakistani origin, i would be treated badly.
he then said: ' tell GEPIK you're parents are ill and you have to stay in England for 1 more year and you will pay the Fedex cost of having your documents sent back home. DON'T tell them about this job, otherwise they will scrap your papers"
i'd heard about dodgy goings on, but this is my first real experience and i haven't even got to Korea yet
does this guy think i'm super stupid, and made of money. it cost be enough to DHL my documents the firts time around, i'm not paying for it twice over, for a hogwon job.
he tried calling me twice this morning, but my phone was 'accidentally' on silent mode. |

Let's wiegh that shall we?
Gepik is guaranteed Government money.
Your recruiter is a recruiter which automatically makes him a lying, cheating douche in my book.
I'd go with the ACTUAL job any day; then again I'm not one to gamble maybe you are. |

| Any recruiter who wants you to break the law and tell lies is NOT to be trusted. |

| don't trust the guy. some of the things I have heard Korean recruiters spew out of their mouths has, at times, made me laugh, and hang up the phone. |

I dropped this recruiter pretty quickly. Total joker and not worth your time.
Here's his example of a job offer (this one by e-mail)
Hi XXXX!
I attached a school contract Ulsan city
This school need a teacher ASAP
so if you have already your documents
please send to me quickly
i'll call you 9pm your time today
Thanks
John

Received this e-mail less than 2 hours before he was planning to call me.
No interview with the hagwon owner or anything like that. No scheduling interviews or asking for availability times. He sent me a copy of the contract along with it, which was a half page of laughable clauses and conditions.
I generally try to keep a calm demeanor with recruiters since I don't burn any bridges, but this is just awful. |

| honestly, there's a lot of dodgy stuff going on in korea (compared to back home anyways). your best bet is to go with GEPIK. you'll be with a government school, so if there are issues you can ask the GEPIK head office (hogwan people usually have to go to immigration to sort serious problems out). and you'll be in the province surrounding seoul. while you may be in a rural location within that province, at least it won't be that far to commute to seoul or another city. |

This.
I was in Suwon last year and I found it convenient to be able to get into Seoul within an hour or less when I wanted to, and be able to come back to a relatively smaller city. |

| I want to go with GEPIK as well. However, they seem to be less organized than EPIK. I'd like to see what I can get there because every hagwon interview I've had has been laughable. |
