|

Hi everyone,
I'm noticed a heck of a lot of schools ask for scanned copies of my canadian passort. I'm kinda reluctant to do so, because my passport # is in there and other stuff that I thought should be kept confidential (potentially my passport info could be distributed on the net).
Just wondering if this is normal to scan one's passport and send an electronic copy to a school. Does everyone do this? Did you do this when you applied for your job? Aren't there some security measures that should be taken, like blacking out the passport number?
Regards,
Eugene |

I think most places ask for a copy of your passport to verify that you're from a country that is elgible for the E2 Visa. Also your passport isn't private it's a public document issued by the government to allow you to travel between countries.
A lot of places here will take a copy of your passport for various things, opening a bank account, telephone and your passport details are recorded when you want to change money. |

It's a very common request, the reason for a scanned copy instead of a photocopy is the image quality. So much of what you do in Korea will require somebody taking a copy of your passport and ARC. |

Don't sweat it -- no worries.
Do like I do, and keep a scan of it, your degree, and bank passbook information somewhere handy.
You have nothing to worry about giving copies of your passport. Do it in black and white if you can. |
