Hi folks,

Myself and 2 friends are going to Seoul for New Years (arrive around 28/12, leave 02/01) and were wondering if we need to book a love motel to guarantee getting a good one/getting one at all!

I've heard that Koreans don't travel so much for New Years, but we want to stay somewhere nice in Insadong/Jonggak area and wouldn't like to find everywhere booked up!

So what do people think and also does anyone have any specific recommendations for good love motels centrally located?

Thanks in advance!

As you said yourself, many Koreans don't travel over New Years, if at all. (I know some old koreans who have never even been to Busan. What's even more shocking is they have no desire to go anywhere other than their own backyard. Sorry, i'm going off the point.)

Regarding Love Motels for New Years. I can't imagine most Love Motels having the facility to book ahead. They seem to be the kind of anonymous places you just walk into on the evening itself. Maybe if you speak Korean you could phone some motels to see.

Maybe you could book a HOTEL online (as long as you can cancel with no cancellation penalty) just as a backup plan.

Maybe someone else will give advice regarding booking Love Motels.

They will be busy on NYE but you'll be able to find one with room, especially since you'll be arriving so early. There are lots in Apgujeong that you can book in advance, but I wouldn't bother unless you decide to go with a bigger group and want a bunch of rooms near each other.

Thanks for the replies folks.
Much as I thought I guess.
We'll probably book somewhere decent in advance as it is a birthday/New Year/special lady/friends celebration!
