Well, as much as I can complain about Korea and Koreans sometimes, the people I've gotten to know at this school really treated me so nice on my birthday. My students totally caught me by surprise. About 12 of them snuck up on me after lunch and brought me a cake. Four girls brought me really nice gifts. One of them (the "crush" I've talked about) gave me a HUGE box of candy -- filled with everything from Toblerones to Twix and Hurinchi pies.
Then the korean interns and my foreign coworkers treated me to some libations and good fun at a local drinking establishment. Some of the interns gave me cheesecake with candles on it.
Just feeling good. Sorry to gloat. Koreans can be extremely nice when you're in their "inner circle" of friends. |

Katydid, even though it was week late, I got a 1948 copy of Thomas Mann's _Doctor Faustus_.
Now that's a way to win a dude over. |
