My contract ends the first week of December. I've got enough money saved up that I can afford a little holiday for a few months.
I've been to Cambodia and parts of Thailand (mainly in the north). Right now I'm really looking into Vietnam, Laos and the parts of Thailand I didn't see, namely Bangkok and Phuket.
I'd like to plan my trip so that I'm in a good spot for any holidays and/or festivals. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it. |

Laos is a time warp. Go before that changes. |

Laos will always be fascinating. They have their own new year, but it's in May if I remember correctly. VERY FUN in Vientiane.
Lunar New Year is best checked out in places with large Chinese communities, I'd say. It was pretty cool in Kuching. Probably awesome in Taiwan or mainland China.
I liked south Thailand a lot, the islands are amazingly gorgeous. Phuket was kind of a let down compared to the rest. North Thailand is wonderful, too, I think.
Been to Indonesia?
Can't say anything about Vietnam. No visa on arrival there, so I haven't made it yet. |
