| Sorry for another dental thread. Just wondering who has gotten braces in Korea and how much they paid for them. Decided I'll probably be here another year and a half and I don't have dental insurance in Canada. I'd be eyeing the cheaper metal ones as I am saving for grad school. My teeth aren't too bad either, just one front tooth is a bit bent back from overcrowding. Any good recommendations on a good, cheap orthodontist in Seoul? |

Hey! I paid 2 million won for my braces, and that was for a quote for 10 months work and 2 sets of retainers afterwards. My dentist made the front brackets ceramic and the back ones metal, this was cheaper.
I've had a really good experience so far, and have seen the dentist every 3-4 weeks.
I live in a town in Chungbuk-do and my dentist speaks average English, and his wife speaks even better English. I'd say it was a bit far for you to travel if you want a dentist in Seoul though. |

| WOAH! Talk about saving compared to ortho work in the states (anywhere from $4-7K depending on the time / work involved). |

I've been looking for a good orthodontist for my daughter. Her teeth aren't that bad. The quotes for ceramic braces have ranged from 4,500,000 won to 4,800,000 won. They ask that you pay the quoted amount upfront, and then pay an additional 100,000 won each month. If my daughter had to wear braces for 1 year, then the total cost would be between 5,700,000 won and 6,000,000 won.
Also, make sure you find out how much a consultation is BEFORE getting one, because basic consultation prices can range from free to 100,000 won. |

| I paid around 2.5 million to have my upper 6 teeth straightened cosmetically through dental crowns. It's nice because you don't have to wait however many years for the results. |

In case it helps a bit more, i paid half up front then half after 5 months. Both husband and wife went to Seoul National University.
They also offered me veneers/crowns, and the cost was about half a million per tooth. This is an option if you don't want to wait but they need replacing every 8-12 years. |

| I paid 6 million won at an orthodontist in Apgujeong. Prior to going with with him I consulted 3-4 dentists in the Gangnam area and at SNUDH. All were similarly priced and some weren't even specialists in orthodontics, just general dentists who claimed to do orthodontics. I didn't want to risk it so I went with a guy who was US-educated and spoke fluent English. I'd say it was worth it. The service has been really good and he is really efficient. My case was a surgical case so it probably cost more than average. |

Hey its in Jecheon a small town near Wonju. The practice is downtown and its called HanMi Chikwa (dentist). It might be better to speak to his wife first who is Seoul Smile Clinic I think...as she speaks better English and can determine exactly what you need!
If you want to go to Jecheon..then email me [email protected] and i'll give you really detailed directions! |
