Hey, I am speed planning a trip to Cebu for March to take advantage the big seat sale going on on Cebu Pacific and I'm a little confused. It seems the really nice beach hotels are in Mactan. How far is that from the airport and how do you get there?
Can anyone who has been to Cebu give me a bit of advice of the layout of the place. Is it more of a city or more of a beach? What's the best area to stay in?
Thanks!

If you want to hit a beach, don't go to Mactan. After you deplane and go through immigration, grab a cab and go to Fuente Pensionne around Mango Avenue in Cebu City.
If you want to hit a beach around Cebu, go to Bohol. |

The (Cebu) airport is ON Mactan.
Depending on the resort of your choice, it is a 5-30 minute drive to the resort after you get into your ride. Many resorts have "free" airport pickup. IF they don't have free airport pickup then you will get charged about p400 for a "yellow" airport taxi out to the resort.
IF you have more than a couple days to spend in the Phils then it would be better to head for Bohol (1 hour taxi and 2 hour boat ride) from the airport.

Macatan beaches are crap. Bohol is where it is at. In fact, get out of Cebu as quick as possible and head over there. |

We will be there from Wednesday at lunch to Sunday morning. Is it worth going to Bohol for a couple nights and then just doing one night near the airport before we fly back?
Thanks for your help!
Got the Incheon to Manila tickets 50% off in the Cebu Pacific sale but missed the Manila to Cebu tickets due to my credit card getting frozen by the bank.
What's the cheapest way to get to Cebu? |

If you have a flight into Manila, look at the afternoon flight (PAL, 5J or Zest) to Tagbilaran (TAG). It is the airport on Bohol and about 30 minutes from Alona beach at Panglao. You can usually get (ordinary) fares from p1700 and occasionally discount fares for as low as p400.
With your short time-frame flying is the ONLY choice to get down to the Visayas from Manila.
5J (Cebu Pacific) and Zest both use the NAIA3 terminal so there is minimal hassle getting between flights (other than going through customs - don't forget to collect your bags and re-check them - or fly light (carry-on). IF you book through PAL (they use NAIA2) you will need to spend about p400 for an (airport) taxi to get you there.
