I am trying to put together a sort of Spicks and Specks (Aussie music quiz show) type day for my middle school third graders after finals. I'd love some input. I need good videos to show the kids (old and weird are better than new and slick ones) where they have to try to remember stuff (like, what was he holding? How many ___ were there? What color was the singer's shirt?). I don't really watch music videos, so I am a bit stumped.

I'd also like song titles for songs they are likely to know that are long enough to split up. Also, song titles for pictionary.

Thanks for the help (I hope).

I think that the best thing to do is to get a student to help you pick the music videos.

I tried an activity like this twice... the first time it fell flat because the students didn't know or care about the music (was using stuff like 'Billie Jean' and '1979'). The second time I asked the first two students who came to my desk to help me make a list of the most popular songs at the moment (ended up with 'Hurricane Venus' by BoA, 'Lucifer' by SHINee, and stuff like that). Went over much better.

Yeah, I started asking students for their favorite songs in English. The thing is, I don't want popular vids (these days they are all the same, oversexed, boring slick stuff anyway). I want weird and funny ones that they don't know. I did this with a few pictures and it was a huge hit. I guess I will watch a few vids of S&S and find some of the weird ones they used.

The kids get into it when they realize they have to try to remember stuff so that they can get points. Th titles are just to mix up and see if they can get them all matched up, as a timed activity. I'll ask questions too.
