I'm sure this thread has been created a million times but the search option never works for me so... can any one recommend any good Korean movies for me to watch?

I've seen some of the popular ones: Oldboy, The Host, Lady Vengeance, A Bittersweet life and Mr Vengeance. Any others I should know about?

'barking dogs never bite', in Korean it's known as Flander's Dog or 'peu lan der seu gae'. It's the 1st film by the bloke who made, the also worth watching, 'Mother' and 'The Host'

The Host is highly overrated I think. Lady Vengeance and Mr. Vengeance was also eh.

Another thing lately is too many Korean movies have some sick twist to it, like incest or some crap like that that happened to one of the main characters/villains.

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring (anything by Kim Ki-Duk for that matter)
Oseam
Why Has Bodhi Dharma Left for the East?
A Little Monk
Passage to Buddha
Come, Come, Come, Upward

On a somewhat related note, anyone know how to watch Mandala with subtitles?

I've heard good things about SECRET SUNSHINE and MOTHER.

Kim Ki-duk seems to be maturing nicely - see 3-IRON and SPRING SUMMER FALL WINTER... AND SPRING. The early stuff was more shock than substance.

For something offbeat check out movies by Hong Sang-soo.

I'm a bit fan of a lot of the films mentioned above, and would add Daytime Drinking (낮술) if you like sadly dark humor.
