I am on my second year contract at a university. I was told by immigration that if I do not get ANOTHER criminal check by January 1 they will cancel my visa. Yes, I have 11 months left on my visa, I just finished one month of my second contract.
Is this place nuts or what? Going back to work now. I just am pissed off.

welcome (back to) Korea!

Theres not two people in this country that will give you the same information.
It just seems to me that no one has any pride what-so-ever in what they do here. They just want to do everything quickly and dont care what it looks like to other people (for example building houses)
in the case of Kimmi - they just tell you any old crap to fob you off.

no, not in all cases (but please someone correct me if Im wrong).
If you go straight from one position to the next, you should be able to use your old background check as long as you dont wait too long. As for staying in the same position, Im pretty sure you should just be getting an extension?
I would get someone from school to phone up to verify what they've requested. Theyll probably tell them something else...

Ever sit in immigration and see that immigration service logo and moto: Smart Service, or Smart Immigration, something like that. They think it's good.

While I am not a fan of koreans....remember this..it is NOT your country. No one kidnapped you and forces you to work here..you can leave anytime.
We all know about koreans and their style, etc...and nothing will change about them in our lifetime...

Now there is a confusing post. Who are you complaining about? Immigration, K-teachers, how native speakers are used?

Whoever it is, your negativity comes off the page.

+1 to the comment above. There are plane rides that leave weekly or even daily to NA or the UK or wherever you are from. So why not light a candle instead of complaining about the dark.
