I presently own 5 winter shirts and no jacket. I seriously need some new duds. My look is kind of old and outdated and I'm tired of wearing the same things over and over again.

The last time I tried to buy new clothes where Korean guys buy clothes, they never have a size that fits me. This frustrated me because Koreans guys dress really fashionably and at a reasonable price. So I used to buy all my clothes in Itaewon. They had sizes to fit, but they're all damn expensive. I got a great sweater last year that was $80! I can't afford $80 sweaters.

But I've recently lost a ton of weight. About 15 or 20kg since last winter. I'm more broad shouldered now from weight lifting, but I kind of like my shirts and jeans to fit a bit snug to show off the new body I've worked hard for.

So, I'm asking now, where can I get some of these nice clothes I see Koreans guys wearing? Department stores? The problem I see here is price. I'm sure department stores have high quality name brands, but want to charge out the arse for them. Then I was thinking of the actual stores themselves like in the mall and such, but I fear of making a trip all the way out there to find out they don't have my size. Then I thought about online shopping, gmarket has some nice stuff really cheap, but again, I'm worried about sizes. I don't want to order a bunch that doesn't fit.

So, help me out if you can. Just point me in the right direction.

How big are you?

I have gotten some good stuff at Save Zone. Also, if I'm in Seoul I usually make a swing through the department stores to check out their "event" areas. I've gotten some nice stuff that way.

FWIW, I'm at 6'7 and about 95 kilos. Shirts usually fit tightish, and I've had a hard time with sweaters/cardigans. I completely rule out pants.

I'm 6' about 190lbs. Just a little chubby around the belly. Oddly enough, my legs and upper body are really toned and kind of ripped. But I still carry a spare tire around my midsection. It's frustrating.

Jeans I can get at Calvin Klein if I'm willing to drop $200 a pair. Something that fits as nice but is much cheaper would be better.

I go 6'6" about 240lbs. The only place I can even sniff clothes that fit is Itaewon. Those clothes are cheap and last about 3 months. I'm debating whether I should do mail order (casualmale.com) or even ebay is decent.

Zara, Uniqlo, Gap, etc.

Also, you may be able to take your pants to a tailor and have them add an inch to the waist if you need it.

Exercise won't fix a spare tire, you have to diet it away.

Do you know your actual korean size? Some e-marts have a new section called "Size less" which has clothes in their Daiz brand 2-3 sizes above the normal cut-off. Normal cut off is 96, but with size-less you can get up to 102 for pants.

For shirts normally cut off is 105, you can get 110, and 115 at these new places.
I 110/115 depending on how it's cut is equivalent to a western XL (like a wal-mart one, not one from aeropostale)

Have you tried cutting down (or cutting out) gluten and beer?

As for the clothing, I think at your height and build you will have no real choice except Itaewon, some department stores, and H&M. And yes, we pay for that difference. To save money, I just bought a ton of sweaters at an underground market, and will have to buy pants at H&M.

You might find that even at a lighter weight, the measurements still won't completely match up in Asia, because we have different frames.

Are you a girl?

Express Bus terminal ( downstairs, past the transfer line, diagonally

across from the flower shop).

The stuff is very reasonably priced ( 15,000-40,000).

Iam 5'6 , 130 and wear a D-cup bra and was able to find ALOT

of shirts, jackets and pants that were tailored to Western Standard.

There's ur answer Cert. Well, the OP could be a large girl whose given up the good fight and resigned themselves to wearing better fitting male clothing from now one, so maybe there's a small chance your question wasn't totally off-base....

Anyways, I'm 6'3" 230, but fairly broad and thick-shouldered, and have a hell of a time finding shirts/pants/shoes (hell even underwear) that fits properly. I'm wearing my wardrobe a bit thin at the moment as well.

What I'm mystified by is that I've seen PLENTY of Korean men with builds similar to or larger than me. And invariably they are wearing clothes, and even shoes! Do they all shop in Itaewon? I get that Uniqlo sometimes has clothes that kinda fit, but NOWHERE have I been able to find proper fitting shoes, and my feet aint really that big!(size 12 US)

Why not do mail order from JC Penny or a like store in the US?

Also OP, don't be so damn cheap. GOOD quality clothes last for years. I am not saying to buy $200 jeans, but don't be afraid to spend $100 on a decent pair of pants that can last you a couple years. I spend about $70 to get dress pants made in Itaewon...they last YEARS. If my belly didn't get bigger as the years went on, I could still wear pants that are 5+ years old. IMO that is a great investment.

I also get all my dress shirts tailored in Itaewon...used to be cheap, now they are about 40k won or 50k won per shit. Those shirts usually last me 2yrs before the collars go out on them and they get too worn.

The really fashionable stuff the K-guys wear costs $$$ and you seem too cheap to pay the big bucks for clothes.

Again, try someplace like JC Penny. If you have an address in the States, you can probably get free shipping during promotions, and then have your parents ship it to you in Korea. Their sales are awesome and Korea can't touch those prices/quality. I went nuts this summer and spent about $250-$300 and EVERYTHING I bought was 75% off...yes, I got A LOT.

If you think that Korean men are fashionable then you've got more problems than finding new clothes to buy.

That being said....I buy virtually all of my new clothes online...have them sent to my father's house (generally free shipping within the US, or cheap shipping), he removes the tags, boxes it all up, $50 in shipping and it's all sent over.

The only way to truly get clothes to properly fit a Western man (that isn't shaped like a Heroin addict) is to order online from home. Plus you can generally save so much from shopping online that you easily pay for the shipping and then some.

P.S. I love the quote about having broader shoulders from working out....what a bunch of BS, you can't make your body broader by lifting weights, at best if your shoulder muscles have REALLY grown, you'd be 1cm wider.

Any idea which E-Marts have this section, particularly in Bundang, Seongnam, or Gangnam?

Thanks

The only 2 I can confirm are Omokgyo and Seong-su emart. I know others have it, but emart doesn't have a list. I've asked a couple times here, but no one has bothered to report back on whether or not their local emart has it. Try the bigger ones.
