I now work at a uni in Saudi Arabia. There is a Doctor here from an English speaking country, that got fired for driving under the influence (DUI) in his last job in his home country.

He happens to be in charge of academic affairs and works for the same company as myself. How did I find this out? I did a google search using the Doctor's name and various news articles about his DUI convictions came up.

Do you think our company know about this? Does the university? I suspect maybe our company knows.

I don't particularly like him. Shall I be vindictive and tell everybody about it? Should I do it anonymously? Or leave the past behind? Laughing

If the school knows about the doctor's DUI, and you go blabbing about it the fall-out will be directed at you not the doctor.

Bear in mind they kill your for kissing over there, I'd just keep quiet. At least a little longer until I'm more comfortable with how my surroundings work.

There are topics over there I hear you should NEVER discuss with your students or bad things happen.

The others have a good point. It may be best just to sit quiet and leave this alone, and I know you really don't like this guy and want to have him removed. But who likes a tattle tale? I really don't know the circumstances of this guy's DUI case or what he's like in person, but that's his past and he alone must deal with it. I'm sure he's not proud of that moment of his life and just wants to get over it and move on. Luckily, he's working in Saudi Arabia, so no chances of new DUI offenses...

wow man, wow.

ftuk, you talk a lot about being a good, nice, polite, well educated person but now you're talking about being vindictive and doing something behind someone's back (WHICH YOU HATE BECAUSE IT'S COWARDLY AND WEAK) but now you are considering doing the same thing. take a good look at yourself and don't try to justify anything.

if you are the man you say you are, why don't you confront him about it?

Doctor? As in MD? If so...why is he a mere academic affairs person? Makes no sense. Or is it a PhD?
In any event...it's best to keep your mouth shut...what goes around..comes around sooner or later.
Remember..the same people you step on to climb a ladder are their when you fall.
What will you gain by starting some crap?

My powers of obvious observation tell me somebody's jealous of the doctor. Probably because he is your boss I would imagine.

Not jealous. I perceive he bad mouthes fromtheuk because I don't lick his boots like the rest of my colleagues. Thankfully, I am consistently civil, even if somebody doesn't want to talk to me.

If somebody doesn't want to lick my boots, I don't try to intimidate that person by blatantly bad mouthing them with everybody else. I am quite secure in myself.

I'm not a doctor of English, but I am sober. Laughing
