Does anyone have a particular guest house or hotel that they would recommend for Bali (Kuta, Ubud, etc.). Any info is appreciated. Thanks! |

I'd recommend the Arjana Bungalows in Ubud. It's about a 15 minute walk from the main drag. The rooms overlook a rice paddy, and are very spacious and include breakfast. The employees are very helpful and will offer you a ride into town. |

I think that the place I stayed at in Ubud was simply called Ubud Bungalows. It had a really nice swimming pool and it was right down the street from the monkey forest. I can't recommend anything in Kuta or Legian. The place that I reserved from the airport was such a shithole that after one sleepless night, I left for Ubud. After that, I went to Lovina. There was a great swimming pool there too, but I can't remember the name of the place. I didn't make any reservations and finding cheap places is really easy. There are zillions of touts who will try to get you to stay with whomever they are working for. Check out the rooms and the facilities before you commit to anything. |

If you're looking to party the Barong Kuta isn't too bad, and you can get really good promotions from Agoda. I would recommend avoiding Kuta entirely (having had a few too many misadventures there), but if that's the direction you want to go in, that place isn't bad. |

If you're in Denpasar, book your room at the Puri Mesari hotel. They'll pick you up from the airport, and they've got a great little place--no tv, but they've got internet access and a fabulous restaurant and cool little pool.
In Ubud, check out the Sahadewa resort. |
